I'm hoping someone has at least two cents worth of critique for Dean titanium bikes. I've been drooling over the El Diente model, but I'm apprehensive about buying from a builder that I know little about. Since there is no dealer in my area (Chicago) I haven't even been able to test ride one. The geometry for the 54cm (55.5cm TT) seems like it would fit me well. I'm 5'10" and 155#.

Bottom line is: what can you tell me about the ride quality of Dean and am I foolish for even considering buying a bike without throwing a leg over it?

I've owned four Deans and currently have an El Diente. I had a Litespeed Tuscany before the El Diente. Dean is a small seven man shop and your getting a hand built bike at a total steal of a price. Call Dean and talk to John about sizing before you buy. He will size you correctly. Dean will also custom spec some of the tubes for you for little or no extra cost. You may wait longer than they tell you but the wait is worth it. Go buy the Dean, it's huge drool material.

If you wish to speak live email me at hd1812@yahoo.com with a phone number and I will call.

PS I'm in central Illinois.
