| Help with Drivetrain Sound | Fred2000 Jul 9, 2002 1:34 PM | | I am getting a creak from my drivetrain and I wanted to know if anyone has a good way of tracking sounds down, like a check list of the most likely sources and how to fix.
I have tightened my cleats (Looks) and the sounds seems pressure insensitive (There when I spin lightly and when I stomp - no change). It is only when the drivetrain is turning and in rhythm with my cadence. The rear wheel was trued and tightened two days ago by my LBS. I cleaned the drivetrain last night and the sound persisted.
Any thoughts would be great. Thanks, Jon |

| Could be.... | grzy Jul 9, 2002 3:10 PM | | ....anything! Seriously, you'd be surprised at some fo the causes of pedal rpm related noise: Bottom bracket Chainrings flexy skewers stem/handlebars seat post You need to rule things out one by one. It can be a bit frustrating, but you need to be persistent. My vote is for either the seatpost or the handlebar stem combo. |
