I know cycling isn't exactly a popular sport compared to many others, and I am fine with that. But I don't like it when people have 0 interest in cycling try to befriend me by pretending to be very interested.

One of my colleagues appeared so interested in cycling and claimed to be looking for a nice bike to start riding rigorously, that I truly believed I should help him find a bike. I spent sometime found a few terrific deals for him within his budget (being the cheap person I am, terrific deals mean ridiculously good deals, such as 6 month old bike at 28% retail), yet he just answers "sweet" and then never contacts the seller or follow up with questions. So that was simply a waste of my time... And he is not the only person who has done that.

Anyway, does this happen to you folks?

I got a girl in my office 35% off a new bike. This other guy thinks he can spend $150 and get a decent bike so I gave up on him when he said "Like around $100 to $200 bucks." And he wants front shocks, aluminum etc...
That guy should meet my dad...empacher6seat

When I brought home my road bike, he said "heeyyy pretty nice! How much did you pay for that? $100? $150?"

"Around $700, actually"

Some people are still living in the dream world of department store bikes.
