My bike sounded like it was dying on a climb the other day..empacher6seat

There's this hill I climb almost every ride... it's not very long (400 meters, maybe) but steep as hell (between 20-30% grade). So as I start to climb, I shift into my 42 X 21 (uuuggghhh) hop out of my saddle and bare the burn. Usually my speed is like, 10 kph and I'm really standing on the pedals, mashing away. My bike squeaks and groans almost like it's pleading with me to stop. Is it bad to put my bike through that much stress? Where should I be most worried about fractures happening? It's a steel bike with steel fork, around 8 years old with 105 components around 2 years old.
