Anyone know the size Bearings in Shimano 600/Ultegra hubs???SelfPropelled

Bought an old bike with Shimano 600 throughout and would like to over haul the hubs (replace bearings) but I dont know what size to look for, anyone know? Much thanks ~ryan

I'd think that Shimano would be using *metric* sized bearings, but stranger things have happened.

How did you make out with the crank arm? United bicycle tool has those tools if you have to buy them.

The front it smaller than the rear. Not sure if the old 600 hubs have the same size as the new ones? Best bet is to take one bearing from each hub to your LBS or hardware store. They are like 7 cents a piece, so don't even bother trying to order on-line.

Ultegra has 10 3/16" in the front and 9 1/4" balls in the rear. Most metric sized bearings, with metric inner and outer races actually use inch size balls. Metric size balls are actually fairly uncommon anywhere.
