|A salesman told me Giant makes something like 80% of all the frames in the world. According to him, many or most manufactures sub out production to Giant and put their names on them. I just said "Really? I didn't know that." while thinking "Ever heard of Trek?".
So, how far off is this guy?

|They are the biggest Co. but 80% is doubtful. Merida of Japan is also very large, they own 49% of Specialized. Trek doesn't sell through discount stores so losses out in shear quantity.|

|I was once told that there are only about three major manufacturers in the world, of which Giant is the largest. I did not recognize the other two names at the time, but one of them was likely Merida as JS pointed out.|

|he could possibly be correct if you factor in all the plain-jane bikes throughout the world, like in europe and the far east that are used for transportation and basic work vehicles.|| |
