How big is Giantpaulw

A salesman told me Giant makes something like 80% of all the frames in the world. According to him, many or most manufactures sub out production to Giant and put their names on them. I just said "Really? I didn't know that." while thinking "Ever heard of Trek?".

So, how far off is this guy?
They are BIG, but not that big.JS

They are the biggest Co. but 80% is doubtful. Merida of Japan is also very large, they own 49% of Specialized. Trek doesn't sell through discount stores so losses out in shear quantity.

I was once told that there are only about three major manufacturers in the world, of which Giant is the largest. I did not recognize the other two names at the time, but one of them was likely Merida as JS pointed out.

he could possibly be correct if you factor in all the plain-jane bikes throughout the world, like in europe and the far east that are used for transportation and basic work vehicles.
