Tour de France director Jean-Marie Leblanc said the positive test was the mark of "a disturbed man".
"I'm surprised and very disappointed," Leblanc told the French wire service AFP. "You have to ask why an athlete who is not competing needs to take drugs."
So Leblanc is saying that it is ok to take drugs if you are competing? Hmm.

|with the fellas, it's not like he cheated anyone which is the whole point of doping rules! It be like suspending Armstrong for taking EPO when he had cancer if they suspend Ullrich for this!|

|how come Saeco gets excluded from the tour when Simoni fails a drug test and Jean Delatour is the replacement when it's now known that Laurent Roux had failed a drug test on May 29th before they were named as the replacement team. And even if Leblanc didn't know then he's known for the past couple of weeks, and now AG2R rider Paumier has failed a drug test and they are not being excluded either. That guy is the biggest hypocrite in Pro cycling!|

|cyclopathic's right on. With Ulrich not competing or
even training, he's not able to work off all those bratwursts and Lagers. I'm sure this has everything to do
with keeping his girlish figure while he's off the bike.
The pressure these guys must face... .
LeBlanc is a poopoo head.

|there's nothing personal, just business as usual. Tour will loose money if there're no French teams. Leblanc has no choice really, he is more of the desperate man then hypocrite|

|That is a disturbing quote from Leblanc. It really makes you wonder how much the Tour de France really cares about being a clean race. Hopefully, the word 'need' was a translators error.|

|just a fat bottom line. It's a shame; Jan needs to stay off that stuff. That many second place finishes in a row can be tough. He's just having a real bad year.
