Used Colnago Carbon a good deal?tommyrod74

I am looking at a 1996 c-40 with full Dura-Ace (I believe about 2 years old, the gruppo that is). Is a carbon bike this age a bad investment? The price is reasonable, I should have a picture to look at tonight. It is my size. Any concerns I should have?

Thanks-
Tommy

Well, in my opinion even one or two years is a long time in the bike technology world. I wouldn't say this is a bad investment if you know exactly what you're looking at that it happens to be what you want. You'll find that in 1996 state of the sport was quill stems (likely), 8 speed (likely), 26.4mm bars rather than 26 now, and even possibly a non-splined BB. I don't think the geometry of the frame has changed much. I personally wouldn't buy a carbon bike that old. Carbon build technology has come a long long way in that time.
