Helium wheel questions..Psychler
Jul 2, 2002 9:00 AM
I have a set of Heliums. Is there any reason to upgrade? I have no clue as to the weight of my wheels, and if other sets are "noticably" lighter...Any feedback? I have had no problems with mine, relativly new (bought them 2 years ago), I am light (145lbs) so I don't stress them much...and, I know how to true them. But, in the quest for a better ride, lighter ride...should I consider moving up?

Do you need to upgrade them? Obviously if they are working well, you don't need to. Having a new toy (pair of wheels) is always fun. I have a set of heliums. They are an Open Pro rim with a special hub. They are not much lighter than a standard DA/Record hub with Open Pro rims. Then again, neither are most boutique wheels. I find the Heliums not to be as rigid in cornering as some wheels (e.g., Ksyriums), but I weigh more than you do. There are a lot of choices out there to explore if money is burning a hole in your pocket.
