For those near enough to the forest fires to be living under a cloud of haze, are you still riding or staying instead? I've reduced my cycling quite a bit for fear of what I'd be breathing in, but I see a lot of other people out sucking in the smoke with no concern. To ride or not to ride?
I'm riding despite the smoke. No problems so far. (nm)bikedodger

Boulder was really, *really* bad on Sunday. Hot, windy and smoky all at once. Felt like racing in a blast furnace. My throat has been sore for the past couple weeks from the Hayman thing, and now I hear Idaho Springs has caught fire too.

Our junior teammate claimed it felt like racing "on one lung".
I'm ignoring itterry b

and have actually been putting in more miles than normal. no side effects other than that mild "campfire" taste in the back of my throat.

the heat these past two weeks here in NM has however been a killer and I've been trying to get off the road by 10:30 am. 103 at my weather station yesterday.
90 miles and 6,000+ ft. of climbing this weekendtheBreeze

Yeah, I've been pretty much ignoring it too. Rode in far northern NM on Friday, Chama to Antonito CO. The air was clearer up there than any place I've been in weeks. Surprising considering it's between the AZ fires and Durango. Rode over the Jemez Mtns above Los Alamos Sunday, again the air wasn't too bad. But it was 90 by 10:30AM even in the mountains!

I haven't felt any untoward effects so far.
I think I'm starting to get used to it :(TomS

At first it would bother my sinuses (but no breathing problems), went for a long ride sunday morning when it was really bad and it didn't seem to bother me at all. When I left I was ready to turn back if my sinuses hurt but it was fine.

But yeah, in the back of my mind I'm kinda worried about long-term effects...
