I am new to road bikiing. Can someone please tell me why the better bikes come with presta valves rather than shrader?

... in essence, Presta valves are better suited to cycling's high pressure/low volume tires (even an MTB is considered low volume when compared to an automotive tire).

The biggest single advantage of presta's that I can see is that it allows a smaller hole to be drilled in the rim.
