Roof rack on a Del Sol?(3 posts)

Roof rack on a Del Sol?gerwerken

I have a Honda Del Sol with a removable targa top. Thule claims I can put a roof rack on it with a fit kit. I was wondering if anyone has every tried it, or seen it tried, and how well it worked. I'm worried that the locking mechanism that holds the roof on won't be strong enough to hold a roof rack and bikes at high speeds.

I had a Del Sol, there is no way I would put a rook rack on that car. You are right about the top, it is not the heaviest piece of metal and I wouldn't trust it to stay put with two bikes into the wind at 70 mph. I used a Delta Hunch Rack when I had that car. It isn't the nicest rack ever, but sits flat on the trunck and mounts two bikes by the forks. It worked well since I had a FSR for MTB and a normal trunk rack didn't fit that bike well. You also have access to the trunck when this rack is on. I think they are about $100-$125.
