not the most exciting topic I know, but does anyone have any tips on cleaning mitts?. Mine get really smelly, get ruined in the washing machine and that soft leather padding doesn't even take kindly to a gentlr soak. What to do?
Mine are fine in the washing machineTomS

pearl izumi whiteline gloves, been machine washing them about once a week for a couple of years and while they don't look "good as new", they're still going strong.

I wash them with my other bike clothes (shorts, jersey's, non-cotton socks, etc) with cold water and air-dry. The only thing to watch out for is that the velcro on the gloves is closed, otherwise it can catch on other stuff.

I bought one of those small, nylon-knit, zippered bags (about 12" x 16") that the ladies use to wash their 'delicates'(Walmart ~$3)...I place gloves (closed, to keep the velcro from grabbing everything else) and socks in the bag, then in the washing machine with the rest of the jerseys & shorts; plus a little CafeSuds..afterall, it's mostly sweat and some nasal residue (YUK !!!).
This keeps them from getting a good beating by the agitator and I'm assured that I get all the articles out that I put in...before I started doing this, my gloves were aging faster than me..(this is also a great method for washing the ASSOS MicroClimate jacket, etc.)
Bonjour!
