|My LOOK 381i will finally be ready next week!
Since the bike has a carbron frame and a carbon seatpost, I'm wondering what to do about a workstand for washing and maintenance.
I've got a Park PCS-1, but I'm worried that the spring-loaded clamp will be a problem. If so, can anyone recommend a carbon-friendly clamp and stand?

|They aren't that fragile.
The act of crushing a seat tube with the work stand is urban myth. Yeah, somebody's friend's grandmother's old room mate did it, I know.
I'm sure it's been done but that person must have been really distracted to put that much force on the clamp.

|If your really worried about it, find an old aluminum seat post to use in the work stand. I have an old no name post in 25.0 that looks like hell, but would work great for working on your bike. Let me know if your interested. Pay the shipping and it's yours.

|I've been clamping carbon posts in a Park stand for years without any problems. Don't worry about it. I never clamp a frame in the stand though.|

|It's probably not a problem, but if it is, it's a big (unsafe) problem.
Tacx makes a workstand (Tacx Cycle Motion) that has a sawhorse design and clamps the dropouts with the bottom bracket resting in a cradle. I like it alot. The only negative is that once you set up the clamp positions for your size frame, a different size frame would require you to re-position the clamps. Probably not a problem unless you own a whole fleet of bikes. Cbike.com and Bullteksports both carry them.
This is the workstand that is many of the Tour teams use.

|I bought this a while ago and it works great for holding the bike from the inside of the seat tube. Great for a full suspension bike as well.|| |
