|I was putting my bike on my car last night and forgot to remove my helmet from the handle bar. The helmet fell about 6 - 7 feet and now it has a crack in the shell on top.
Should I still use it, or is it time to get a new one? I know you shouldn't use it after you've crashed with helmet damage, but could/should I still use it until I get a chance to acquire a new one?

|I would definitely buy a new one as soon as possible. Giro makes really nice fitting helmets. Plus, you don't want to jeopardize your life with a cracked helmet. Price Point has some really nice helmets on sale!|

|get a new helmet. Get the helmet first. Get on the bike second.
It's up to you, obviously. And you can continue to use the broken helmet. You just cannot continue to use the broken helmet to protect your head.

|answers. I was planning on getting a new helmet. I just was anticipating the possibility of not getting it before my next ride.
I guess the REAL question is HOW MUCH of crack is too much? Any crack? Considering my helmet (Giro Stelvio) has a space between the shell & foam anyway, how much integrity is lost by a crack (dime size) in the shell?
Like I said in the original, I did understand I should get new one, but I probably didn't make my real question clear.
Thanks in advance.
