My LOOK CX-7 pedal axel BROKE! Anyone heard of this?James

While on a century 2 weekends ago, my right Look CX-7 pedal sheared at the thickest part of the axel. I couldnt believe it, it was at the thickest part! I just got a brand new set from look, but i'm worried to use them again. What if I was going downhill fast and it broke! Has anyone had this problem or heard of it from the CX-7's. The Look people were very surprised, but i'd expect that reaction even if they had several coming back for broken axels.

I cant imagine as i suppose its a steel axle. How much do you weigh? Were you standing on the pedals when it happened?

cro mo axel. I am about 215 and was going easy, but I had done alot of climbing earlier. I really like the pedals and will probally just (RE)run with them. Makes me want to carry an extra pedal in my jersey, but naaa.

I've been riding CX7s since last fall and haven't had any problems (in fact, I find the adjustability so helpful that I've just sucked it up to order a second pair for the commuter bike). I haven't heard of any problems either, although I just haven't seen that many around to establish much of a basis for general conclusions about reliability.

That's strange. Mine are fine.

I would have to say that is a freak accident. That axle is the same one used on the 206, 337, 357 and 396 pedals. And that is just in their current line-up, that doesn't include the pedals of years past.
