|I just read where Ken Labbe is a mailman and he is also on the postal team. Is this qualified to ride with one of the top teams in pro cycling? I spell a publicity stunt here. Am I wrong?|

|but yes he's a postal worker and I think cat. 1 rider which is how he got on the Postal team. If he wasn't a postal rider he wouldn't be riding for USPS, but he only does some of the domestic races. As far as being qualified to ride with with USPS, I don't know how strong he is, maybe some others here have raced against him. But I would suspect almost anybody in the country that makes it to cat. 1 is "qualified" to ride for a pro-team doing grunt work.|

Did you mean to say, if he wasn't a postal employee he wouldn't be riding for USPS?

|I rode with Ken on a charity ride this spring and had a chance to talk with him quite a bit during and after the event. He rides for the domestic team mainly as a lead-out man for their sprinters. He is also a criterium racer. So in short, he is a domestique for the US-based team.
A hell of a nice guy too. He holds several midwest records for 12-hour time trials, etc. He also is the only team member that is a letter carrier. I doubt that it's full time though. His bio does say that he's an active employee, though.

|I had a chance to talk to Labbe and Ventura a couple of weeks ago and I also know a bunch of guys that know him really well. Kenny is a self made publicity stunt. He is a very strong rider and busts his ass to make sure that Ventura has a chance to use his devastating sprint. He is an actual US Postal letter carrier on a paid leave of absense. He lobbied some of the higher ups in the Postal team for about a year to let him ride for them. They finally agreed when the POstal Service was looking for greater domestic exposure. In my opinoin, Kenny is a good guy, a descent racer, and a really good PR guy not only for himself but for the Postal team and the Postal Service. If you asked Lance or George how they like Kenny they would probably say, "who?".|

|The Postal team has 21 riders registered with the UCI. Ken is one of them and I think that George and Lance would know who all the registered team members are.

|Is that you Kenny?
You mean they would know because they can read the team roster also? Or are you saying that they pal around together in the off season? Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Kenny Labbe fan but I not delusional either. Robbie might get the invite to Lance's xmas party but I don't think Kenny would. I think Lance might be able to pick Kenny out of a line up, maybe.

|The next time I'm at Lance's Xmax party, I'll see if Kenny is there. That's the only way we will know for sure.
P.S. Does anyone have Lance's home phone number, I seem to have misplaced it.

|for 2 weeks earlier in the year. Kenny was there. Ventura was there. Everyone was there. So I think Lance and George would know them.|

|Two weeks ago at the Northbrook Velodrome he lapped the Cat 1/2/Pro field by himself. This was in a points race on a 400 meter track. It took him about 12 laps. He is one fast SOB.
Incidentally, I work in the town where he's a mail carrier. My mailman Ron likes to bitch about Labbe's paid vacation.
