|I was looking at getting the Silent Sports Thin Blue Line road bike for CAD$1500. It's basically a Reynolds 853 frame with carbon fork, Shimano 105, Mavic Cosmos, and Shimano 515 mountain bike pedals (specs below).
I'm basically a mountain biker who is quite out of shape, and wanted to do some local training on a road bike, but want something that will last me. I'm 5'7" and have a 31" inseam. By my calculations, that puts me in the 53 cm (c-t) frame ballpark.
Unfortunately, that bike is sold out of the 53 cm size. They also said I could go with a all aluminum Devinci Apex/Podium (small size) but with all the parts swapped out for Shimano 105 for CAD$1400 (US$910). A carbon fork would add about $150 (US$100).
Anywhere else to get a cushy steel ride with carbon fork and 105 in Toronto? I prefer steel over aluminum on my mountain bike, so I'm guessing I may prefer the same for road although I don't have enough experience to really say, as this would be my first real road bike.
