|I am curious what maximum speed an experienced racer is likely to be able to acheive when sprinting towards the finish. Any insight into this topic would be much appreciated.|

|I think the pros can sprint over 50mph, once in a cycling video, I heard someone mention the Lion King sprinting at 90+ kph, that's 55mph!!??
I am a Cat4, self-claimed sprinter, I can sprint to 40mph when I feel really good. Most of the time, only close to 40.

I've ridden in on a track with nationally-ranked trackies (some of Eddie B's pupils at the San Diego Velodrome, during "anything goes" hours one Saturday morning). The results were predictably comical: I'd pace around the track behind the pack at 12 mph, they'd explode into a sprint and shoot away like Star Trek special effects.
Its hard to say how much faster they were, but I'd have to guess not less than 15 mph against the 29 I could hit on one straight dropping off a high turn.

|I clocked myself at 35mph once, when I was feeling spunky. flattish ground. I weigh in at 120.|| |
