A while ago, someone mentioned that there was a big hill (I think they said it was about 1 or 2 miles long and 15-20% grade) near Baltimore and I was wondering if anyone could tell me the location of it?thanks

not sure there's one around Baltimore that high. 15% over 1mi gives 800' elevation change. There're a couple steep hills around Lochraven Satyr hill but it isn't nearly as bad.

I suspect to get 1-2mi 15-20% climb you'd have to go to Cattoctin or South Mountain in Frederick/Haggerstown/Chambersburg area, I know a few.

I live in the Northern Suburbs of Baltimore and I am not aware of any such hill nearby. There are plenty of hills in Northern Baltimore County with steep grades, etc. But, most of the hills involve climbs of only 200-300 feet. Some favorites: Piney Grove Road and Dover Road going north from Butler Road; Big Falls Road (near Monkton); the hills around Pretty Boy Resevoir. The biggest climb near Baltimore of which I am aware is South Mountain, which is a ridge between Frederick and Hagerstown. There are several routes over South Mountain than involve long climbs and interesting grades.
