Has anyone used it before? How does it work? I assume it is one for one right? I have a couple of old frames hanging around and if I can get something for them it might be worth it. Do they give you more for a Cannondale trade than another brand? Does the frame have to be serviceable? I know that they trade for CAAD 5 frames but how much does one cost with/without trade? Thanks for any details.

I've been there. Just tells you to get details from a Cannondale dealer. I thought that I would try to get info here since I don't know when I will make it to the dealer. Also to get responses about how good the program is.

You can take in any frame ($25 yard sale version will do). Some dealers won't even ask for a trade in - its not like they are sending them to C-Dale for vintage storage.
The cost is up to the dealer. But since you can buy a CAAD5 for around $600 with fork and HS I would guess it should be around $500. Don't expect to bring in a $5 frame and get the Canny for $150.... The value of your trade in will not make a difference (unless the dealer thinks he/she can get something for it).
Either way, a CAAD5 with fork and hs is a hell of a deal for $500-600.

Cdale gives 30% discount. Problem is not all framesets are eligible for trade in, CAAD6/CAAD7 is off limit (rep pointed out at oversized BB), so is any Scalpel/Jekyll with carbon Lefty. After taking to rep, dealer then rep again I got impression the only frames eligible for trade in are the slow sellers. Any high end/high demand road/MTB frame is off limit.

I think the only eligible frames are the CAAD5 road and the CAAD4 mountain frames. I wanted to do a trade-in towards a cyclocross frame, but the LBS said C'Dale didn't do that. and anyway, on their website, C'Dale specifies the frames eligible for the offer.

I was interested in Scalpel with Lefty (3000 and Team) and they only allow 1000 (with Fatty). I was pissed 'cause I told rep about Lefty; he knew it still sent me to dealer.

Just a side note to your rep. commentairy. Cannondale will start delivering CAAD7 with normal BB dimension for the R1000 and up in a couple of weeks.
I used it last year...biknben

I got a CADD 5 last year using the trade in program. They were only offering the CADD4 at the time. Some long strings were pulled and I had to wait but I got the 5.

Keep in mind that C'dale does this to increase sales on frames that they are able to make cheaply. They've been making the CADD5 for a few years. They streamlined the process and can turn a good profit. That's why they offer them at a discount.
