|Good road bike deal for US$975? How much for same used?||Eug|

|I wanna by a road bike to get myself into passable shape. I'm never going to be anything close to a hardcore roadie though. I have a mountain bike, but I hate changing the wheels and readjusting the brakes all the time, not to mention the fork bob going up some hills.
A nearby store sells their Thin Blue Line road bikes at what seems considerably cheaper than similarly spec'd bikes at other stores.
For CAD$1500 (US$975) you get:
Shimano 105 everything
Shimano mountain bike pedals (which I want anyway)
Selle Italia Trimatic (whatever that is)
Mavic Cosmos wheels
There's also a used bike swap next week. How much do you think I should spend to get something similar used? I'm a little hesitant to go used because I'm purely a mountain bike guy and don't really know how to fully assess a road bike. I'd probably have to get my own pedals anyway and pay for a tune up. I'm thinking if a similarly spec'd used bike costs more than CAD$1000 (US$650) for something reasonably recent and in reasonable condition then it ain't really worth it.

|P.S. I realize I shouldn't have too much fork bob going up hills. I'm working on it. :P|| |
