|I am switching from speedplay back to look (the speedplays are great but they just dont do it for me.. I grew up on looks and familiarity is winning out over the many qualities of the speedplays)..
my question is;
how much do i raise my seat to compensate for the difference in hieght (in inches.. i can't begin to think metrically)..
I am imagining that i raise it the thickness of the cleat?

|You need to take some careful measurments to determine the difference in the location of the sole of the shoe to the centerline of the pedal spindle. I suspect it's somewhere in the 1/4" to 3/8" range, but it depends on the type of shoe that you are using and whether both pedals require cleat adapters for your shoes.
I use Sidi shoes that don't require an adapter for the speedplay pedals. This combination places the sole of the shoe as close to the spindle as any brand on the market. I think that this arrangement improves my spin significantly.
Personally, I wouldn't think of going back to LOOK pedals. Hated those squeaky cleats. I used them for many years, but find the speedplays to be a huge improvement. If you don't like the float, consider the speedplay zero model with fully adjustable float.
