So what is the best trunk rack for a 2002 Jetta 4dr? I don't want it banging around or rubbing the paint. Any suggestions from experience? Thanks.

My friend with a Passat just borrowed it. Before I put it on my trunk (a Maxima), I wet an old t-shirt, wipe the dirt off the trunk, then lay the t-shirt flat onto the trunk. I put the feet of the bones onto the t-shirt. I've got a black car, so scratches really show.

For great prices on 'bones' check out http://aebike.com/site/index.cfm

I know nothing of their service, but I found their site($30 cheaper than my LBS) AFTER I already bought mine.
I agree on the Saris Bones (nm)HBPat

Depends on what you want... I like trunk racks.

I have an enflite trunk rack which I bought nearly ten years ago. It's great as I can use it on any vehicle -cars, vans... Also, if you have a fin on your trunk it's not a problem.

I am not sure if they still make these any more but the below link is the same idea and available at Performance.

I like to be able to see my bikes while I am driving. Also, there's less chance of me wiping them out like so many do with their garages.
