What do you wear as a shirt with bib shorts?jose_Tex_mex

All,
I am looking for something a little more trendy than a tshirt to wear under my bib shorts. Also, I do not feel like spending $50+ on a some of those base shirts out there.

I would like to find a zippered shirt, no rear pockets, light material, and no elasticized waist. Maybe some color or logos.

Any ideas, suggestions, or links?

A standard jersey is worn OVER bibshorts. Usually you won't find cycling-specific base layers with a zip-neck because having two zippers would be a bit cumbersome.

Base-layers don't have to cost $50. Simple Defeet undershirts retail for ~$20. For even less-expensive options check the clearance places like sierratradingpost.com and reioutlet.com.

I agree a jersey goes OVER the bibs-

I recently received a catalog from Performance or Nashbar... one of the funkier catalogers, that showed every model wearing bibs by wearing them OVER a base layer T-shirt. It certainly looked odd.

As much as I love bibs, and I just wear a jersey OVER them, they can be a bit warm in the summer with the bib material/jersey combo.
I think they were trying to show the product.dzrider

I hope they weren't suggesting a new fashion trend. Some bibs have mesh tops; wide or narrow straps; bottoms low enough pee over or high enough to hold in your stomach. An serious shopper wants to see all that before buying.

A guy around my way only rides this way. I dont know what his name really is but I've always called him the guy who wears the bib on the outside. He does it to hold all the crap(diskman, cell phone, etc)thats in his pocket secure under the bib. Good idea.
Ishmael, are you related to Delwood Kelp? nmMel Erickson

And do a search for Delwood Kelp in the General Discussion board. In some ways you remind me of Delwood.

Sure you got the bib part of the shorts. But this DOES NOT mean you wear a jersey under the top part of the shorts. For frick sakes the catalogues do it to show the bib shorts in their entirety. Not to make a new style!

Of course the great thing about big shorts is you can wear jesey underneith and you got a skinsuit! Although why not just tuck the jersey into regular shorts and save yourself the money? UGH!

Anyway the whole point of bib shorts is to prevent the shorts from slipping down. Not to show the world you have bibs.

Cheers,
Nick Corcoran (will never ever be caught wearing bibs over a jesey)
