Seat Height Vs Saddle Heightjose_Tex_mex

All,
I realize this area has more to do with personal opinion and comfort than anything else. However, is there a general rule of thumb for the top most heights of your seat and stem. When viewed from the side should they be level or should the bars be lower.
Just wondering what you use.
Thanks

A few people have bars higher than saddle, some people have them even, most have bars lower. How much lower depends depends on personal preference, body size, and comfort. Comfort depends on experience, flexibility, and trunk strength. Larger people can usually have more absolute drop because it is a smaller percentage of their arm length. I'm 6' tall, ride a 59cm frame with the seat post just about at max, and a drop of 8.5 cm from the horizontal nose of the saddle to the top of the bar.
