|Who have you met in person, and how did your vision of them compare with reality?
Me: Hummah Hah, Grzy (where is he, anyway?), and Morgan (doesn't post much).
Met HH at the Solvang Century last year and Grzy at the Climb to Kaiser. Morgan lives around the corner from me.
HH was pretty much as he described, "Abe Lincoln on a cruiser." Yup.
Grzy, I didn't have much of an idea about ahead of time, and I didn't get to see him for more than about 5 seconds at the pace we were going in a huge group.
Can't think of anyone else.

|I'm not really sure that I have or haven't met anyone who posts on this board. I often meet new folks when riding Mt. Diablo and the Peninsula (Page Mill, Skyline etc.)and it wouldn't surprise me if some were active on RBR.
I do know that someone on this board read a post I wrote re: my LBS (Pegasus Cycle Works in Danville) and was inspired to check them out...evidence of the "power" of the web?

|I went on a ride with a neighbor. He brought his friend along. When I mentioned the board, the friend said, "You must be BiknBen!" I was pretty surprised.
I've resisted the urge to mention the board when in large groups or at races. I wonder how many others are out there.

|I have met a lot of people on the MTBR.com board. I think a lot of the people on the mountain bike board are here as well but under different names, like my self.
I attended a gathering last year and met a lot of them there. I also have met a few of the local riders that hang out on the mountain bike site and ride with a couple of them every now and then.
I may have been around others on this board at some of the local tours here in the Portland area, but wouldn't know it if I met them.

|This board is infested with Front Range folks, at times we make the Racing forum look like an ACA bulletin board.
I see BipedZed just about every race.
Met RockyMountainRacer once at a crit early this year.
mtber lives 'round the way in my subdivision.
Sherpa23 & I met for a lunch ride last Thursday.
I met TJeanloz when he still worked at our LBS, bet he doesn't remember who I am.
I've raced with rollo tommassi (a fellow Midwesterner) sometime back in my distant past when I rode for DCC/Huffy.
there are a couple more, don't feel left out if I forgot you, it's not your fault I'm a crackbaby :p

|I remember most of my regular bike-shop customers. And every single person I sold a bike to, including $300 mountain bikes, by name. And in the truely sickening category, I remember a lot of the serial numbers of the 'pro' bikes I sold...some things are just unforgettable...|

|Especially since he witnessed my clueless biff in a simple little gravel corner, as I was yammering on about how NOT to crash in said corner. Thanks Zed for just PROVING that I'm a crackbaby...|

|LoneFrontRanger - introduced myself at Weld County RR last year, and have since been in awe. She is every bit as smart, tough, and savvy as her posts. Went on a fantastic snow covered cyclocross ride in January and pre-rode the Boulder Roubaix course in April with her badass trackstanding BF John.
Cima Coppi - met at a cyclocross race last fall. Had him over to the dining room/bike shop where we installed a Ouzo Pro on his SWEET Della Santa. Rode a bunch of group rides this winter but has moved away to NJ. Bummer.
Maillot Rouge/Pack Meat - see him at most of the races. He and the Red Rocks fellas like to work me over at cyclocross. Must beat him at State TT.
Climbo - lined up next to him at 2001 CX Nats. Too much testerone to say hi. He spanked me on the first lap. Gonna be at CX Nats this year?

|gee thanks ... now whenever I meet the RBR'ers, I'll have to live up to your description instead of being my usual clueless dorky self ;)
See ya at Estes and good luck! What did the spousal unit think of the red badges of courage from Platte Bridge? You gotta be a total stud to chase back on after a crash like that!

|... I met MB1 when someone on this forum clued me in to the NSA-OCE fixie century. I told MB1 about this place, and he showed up a day or two later.
He's attracted others on this forum to the event since, and has another gathering scheduled next weekend. Wish I could be there, as I'd meet more of the nice people here. I'll be out-of-state that weekend.

|Last year, I rode with a fella from SoCal while he was here on biz - I think his handle was cioccman, or something like that.
Last month, I tried to hook up with someone at the Great Western Bike Rally in SLO, but it just didn't work out.
Grzy is the only other one that's close by...maybe someday.

|I was in the same crash as rtolle (U of Miami road race, beginning of this collegiate season in the midwest). rotlle, if you're reading this, is the hernia better?
and one of the guys (nestorl) who USED to post is on the same cycling team as me, but I think he doesn't come here much anymore.

|but she's had a great deal of positive influence on me. She invited me to her club's road rides and velodrome training nights. I've been attending both, and the group has meant a great deal to me.
Everybody here knows she's a sweetheart, but I feel particularly lucky to live near to her and her club.
Thanks Anne, you've been awesome.

Then again, I've only been posting for around... 3 months. And I'm isolated from you mainlanders, I live on Vancouver Island (BC Canada) in the supposed "Nations Cycling Capital" (complete lie) Victoria.

|I've tried to hook up with Look271, but we were always doing other rides last year. We don't live close enough to ride regularly.
Rich Clark (who I guess stopped coming here or I missed his name change) rides by me, but I haven't seen him or his Airborne.
From what I can tell GreenFan and SteveO and few others live near me and ride some of the same routes.
Becky and I did the same century last year, but didn't find out until after on this board.
It's not something you ask though when you're out riding usually. "Hi, do you post on RBR?" I may have met others on organized rides, but I wouldn't know.

|met look271 for about 20 seconds at the chattanooga 3/3. he's tall. missed "mikep", though he was there.
rode the last half of a hilly double metric last fall with 12x23. he's got more bikes than trek, and climbs like marco (back in the day). met up with him again in chattanooga this year, but we shared more brews than miles. :-)

I also know GregR (who posts irregularly) and I have a strange suspicion that I know RadicalRonPruitt as well.
