Cyclenews' spin on the Crooks article...spyderman
Jun 7, 2002 8:57 PM
While we can appreciate the outrage, we prefer not to give this lazy, moronic writer and the stupid outlet which published such bile any further credibility or recognition.
It's just depressing, and I think our readers have had enough of it lately.
In fact, if you look at the other stories on that site's home page, they're mainly about guns and violence. The irony of a so-called 'humour' column is lost on the writer and editors that any kind of feedback is totally pointless - no amount of outrage will change their thinking, and they will only attempt to give it legs and milk it for all it's worth. Yes, some media types - particularly crap like this zwire site - will do anything for an audience.
I'm sorry, the column is a cheap stunt to generate traffic and a link on Cyclingnews to the article would only give it more credibility.
The fact that the site is linked to a newspaper in Texas says it all - they know any kind of anti-cyclist story will get a run because of LA. It's the same as the stupid plan to make cyclists in Texas ride in the opposite direction to traffic - again, it was a stupid stunt by a desperate Texan politician to get his name in the papers.
Ignore - don't buy into it.

Safe riding,
