It's with heavy heart that I post the news of the passing of Dee Dee Ramone, nee Douglas Colvin. Once described as 'The most Ramone of all the Ramones', Mr. Ramone was found dead in his Hollywood home Wednesday night. He was 50 years old.
Tonight's ride is dedicated to Dee Dee.

Gabba Gabba, one of us.

I guess I never expected them to live forever, but Joey was enough for awhile.

Shame.

I spin my Ramones records all the time.

I'll spin 'em tonite for Dee Dee.

What a sad day. Dee Dee was a nice guy. It is too bad he could not beat his demons. You live by the needle you die by the needle. "Chinese Rock" is one of those songs that you will never listen to the same way again.

I played Bass in a band that opened for The Ramones a couple of times in the mid 80s. They were one of my favorite bands growing up. I grew up listening to Iggy Pop, The Ramones and The New York Dolls while most of my friends were listening to Van Halen & Led Zep. The highlight of my musical career was Dee Dee coming up to me after our set and complimenting me on my playing. It was a small gesture but it meant a lot to me at the time. It would be like Eddy Merckx complimenting me on my climbing.

As sad at is is, who can listen to songs like "Rockaway Beach" or "Beat on the Brat" and not smile. I guess now he is where he belongs, fighting with Joey in rock-n-roll heaven!!!

RIP Dee Dee

Sorry, that was bad I know. It sounds just as stupid what they say it about cyclists, skydivers, race car drivers, etc.
maybe i have a sick sense of humor, but that was funny! (nm)ColnagoFE
