There was a Windsor poster in an old LBS showing Merckx setting the record on a bike with Windsor decals on the headtube & downtube, but with the trademark Colnago fluted seatstays. The story has it Merckx sold out Ernesto for a few bucks from Windsor, a Mexican bike manufacturer, to put Windsor decals on the Colnago.

It was a Colnago with Windsor decals. One report was that Eddy did it to ingratiate himself with the locals, but I'd bet some money changed hands, too.
