|Why do you love the bike?||NeedSpeed|

|On days when I ride into work, I park my bike right across from my workstation. After the longer route (25.5 miles) which take me on the Mt. Vernon trail, framed by the sights of the Washington Monument, Pentagon, Kennedy Center and Lincoln Memorial in the distance, I get lost in the feeling of being on a bike. I get that giddy, childlike feeling of wonder like when we all used to tear around on our dirt or mountain bikes from Target or wherever without a helmet, just feeling invincible or just naive about falling off. When I'm at my computer, working away, I steal glances at my road steed. Sometimes it just amazes me that they make bikes out of lightweight metals like aluminum, ti or slightly heavier steel, plus rubber and carbon and that, with human horsepower, can go from standing there to 40-50 mph on flats and even faster on descents. I like the feeling of leaving my house in the morning and knowing that I will get myself where I need to go. Not a bus, the metro or a car. That's just awesome. It's empowering. It makes you appreciate the fact that you can move and live and get yourself where you need to go down that road or over that hill. And the speed? When I was a kid, I never dreamed I could go that fast on a bike, but I always wanted to. Now I can. So tell me: why do you love the bike?|

|I know exactly what you mean.
My bike gets lugged to work on the back of my car for either lunch rides or after work rides (like tonight - yea). I love having her in my office.
It's a nice reminder of what this body is able to do with that piece of equipment. I can look at her and just imagine the way she feels under me and how we fly together. (oh jeez, gitcher mind outta the gutter)
I love my bike because it gives me goals and a means to better physical self. I love my bike becuase in the process of bettering my body, it makes my head happy too.

|I love the bike because of the glory of finishing 42nd. Like a C+ in a class I thought I could'nt pass.
Because when I race
I melt into a stream.
And because of others doing the same thing for different reasons.
And they can tell me about it. And It's all good, most of the time. But especially when they ride their bike.
The rest of the time, Allison is right; Maybe qualifying as a human first would be enough.
On a bike I can express myself very well.

|I don't know, I guess something which is mechanical, artistic, practical and (most importantly) fun and also contributes significantly to my physical and spiritual well being, is answer enough!|

|Exactly the reason why I am on a bike rather than a Harley. It's just great to be able to drive the machine to such speeds.|| |
