|I'm at wit's end. I have a 2001 Giant OCR1 with about 350 miles on it. It's got 105 all around and has so far performed as well as expected for my first road bike. Unfortunately, a creak in my bottom bracket, which started out hardly noticible but has since (in the last two rides) become almost embarassing, is rapidly diminishing my riding pleasure. The creak is loudest when I'm on the flats and trying to crank it up and is reduced to a "tick" when climbing. I've lubed it within the past week hoping that it would go away, but it seems to only be worse.
What do I do with this? I'm almost ready to skip tomorrow's group ride so that I don't have to subject others to my noisy bicycle. I'm going bananas, so please help. Thanks!

|With such low mileage bring it back to the shop for the once over break-in.
Who torqued the bottom bracket? This is an absolute must... Also, make sure the crank arms bolts, chainring bolts, and pedals are also torqued.

|John, when you bought it did you bring back for a tune up. Did you check to make sure sure crank arms are not loose. If thats not it you might want to disassemble the crank and bottom bracket. Wrap the bottom bracket threads with teflon tape and reassemble. This should fix it. LoL.|| |
