Switching from a triple to a double cranksetHerms

I am in the process of switching from a triple to a double crankset and I know that I dont need to switch the STI shifters but do I need to do anything to them to make them useable with a double? Also I got a new short cage rear derailleur and am I therefore going to need to take a few links out of the chain?

Thanks in advance, Herms

The trim positions on your shifters will just line up differently. When you get it perfect, you have two positions for each chain ring.

Since your big chain ring and biggest cog didn't change, the optimal chain length doesn't change either. Your rear derailleur just doesn't have to wrap up as much chain because you don't have a 30t chainring anymore.
