|Phantom biting Fleas....||funknuggets|

|While riding the other day, I had unzipped my jersey pretty far due to the extreme heat. Much to my chagrin, several miles later, I felt a stinging on my abdomen. Assuming that a bee or something flew in my shirt, I shook it out and continued on. Unfortunately it continued to happen, and on the busy road I was on, I didnt get a chance to stop until the next stoplight (which was several miles). I shook my shirt out and could not see or feel anything in the fabric. It then happened again... By the time it finally stopped, I had at least 13 small raised welts on my stomach, side and back that just burned slightly but did not itch. They went away after an hour or so, but kinda freaked me out for the time being... invisible bastards. Anyone have any clue as to what this was and if OFF works at 20mph???|

|I had this happen once on an MTB ride. After several minutes and 16 small, stinging bites later, I discovered a small ant who had made his way into my jersey and went on a rampage.|

|A similar attack, anyway--some riparian areas here in the desert are infested with millions of little hovering bugs. If you ride through a swarm of them, you can get a bunch of barely noticeable bites/stings that go away in a couple of minutes. Then, at least on me, they come back in the form of tiny itching bumps that last a day or two. If I get a lot of them, they make me sick to my stomach, too.|

|was riding the last parts of a double metric with fellow poster "12x23". i must've been a strange site, stopping abruptly at the roadside and pulling off & shaking out my jersey. didn't see ANYTHING, but at the end of the ride, i had a number of small, raised welts over my ribs.
advice: keep jersey zipped unless head is down to protect open jersey. ugh! don't know if OFF would help, and not sure i'd want to apply and reapply it over the course of a long ride.
