Does anybody know of any good rides in or around Sequoia/Kings National Park? We are going to be up there for the family camping trip and I was hoping to get a little ride in, road or mtb. Thanks.

I've backpacked in the area some, but never riden. Mountain bikes are not allowed off-road, so leave your MTB at home. The dead end road that leads into King's Canyon would be areally nice road ride - long, scenic, lots of climbing, but potentially very hot.

i lived in fresno for seven years and loved the biking around the area. General's hwy. goes from visalia through sequoia national park and it's a bitch! you'd better like hills! don't go to the Park via hwy 68. it's too trafficky. also, if you're not used to higher elevations, i'd start off with a small ride and see how the altitude treats you. finally, get a AAA map of the area. it's a treasure chest of riding opportunities.

I went x-c skiing in King's Canyon last winter. Highway 245 to 180 looked like a shortcut from the south so we took it. It was no shortcut, but it was really pretty, twisty and hilly, my friend and I both thought it would be a great cycling road. Of course, that was in March, it was green and cool. It will be hot, and dry now as it is not as high in elevation as the rest of the park. J21 also between Badger and Woodlake looks interesting on my map, may be gravel for all I know. I love this area having visited it many times over the years. Enjoy.
