Hi,

I will be riding 65 miles for the first time at the elephant rock and I am looking for people to ride with. I am usually riding an average of 14 to 16mph on this kind of road.

If you are interested you can contact me at evenditti@earthlink.net

there are so many people on this ride that you really are never alone. i've ridden it by myself a few times and always had a good time and met some people along the way.

Yep, you'll wish for more alone time. E-Rock's gotten so crowded I'm almost tempted to "just say no," but I too will be on the century route.

Look for me at the post-ride barbeque. I'll be the one with the brown hair.

I've heard from quite a few people that it's gotten too crowded. Just how bad is it?

about 7,000 riders now, so you'll do a lot of passing or being passed (depending on your speed), and the crowd will include a lot of hobbyist riders who weave unexpectedly or fail to announce themselves.

It is really a nice course and well supported (though it looks to be hot as blazes this year). It just requires a little extra vigilence on your part.

It is a VERY nice event, but not for the crowd averse or one looking solely to commune with nature. The century loop is much less crowded obviously. The climb to the finish, where all routes converge, is the worst part (that and the first 5 miles or so where you'll jockey a bit for position).

I saw that same number on a TV story this morning. Yow. Does getting there really early help? I was thinking of getting there and being ready to roll right at 6 (it'll be cooler then, too).
