|Just got doored for the first time and hopefully the last time. I am bruised not broken. My bike took the brunt of the hit with a damaged frame and cracked Alpha Q Fork. Rear Ksyrium now has a hop but the front one looks okay.
The guy flung the door open right in front of me. Went off the bike and over the door, don't remember any of it. next thing I know is that I was sitting on the street facing oncoming traffic, which did not stoop by the way just slowed drove around then right on by......
he asked if I was okay....
I asked him if he ever looks before opening his door...
His reply: No....
then I did not know what to say.....
I have a big race coming up this weekend that I was keying for and I don't have a bike to ride.....
My Girlfriend says I am a caged animal pacing through the apartment...

|Been there, done that. Hardest part is yet to come...waiting to heal. Be sure to get checked out if unusual aches and pains start later. I'm not trying to alarm you or to bum you out, but in my case, I ended up with a badly bruised meniscus that didn't make it's presence known until a week later and then took an entire summer to heal.
Also, did you get his insurance?
FWIW, you'll never ride quite as close to parked cars again. At least I don't.

|His insurance company should pay out for the bike and or any injuries that have occured. I had this happen to a buddy of mine about a year ago and he had no problem collecting from the insurance company.|| |
