Anyone know why Rebellin dropped out of the Giro last week??? I would have thought he would have been a likely favorite (along w/ Tyler and Cadel) for the GC had he continued the race. Also, how was he the no. 3 ranked rider last year?? Did he win anything of importance last year?? Prior to his signing with Gerolsteiner, I had never heard of him. Just curious because I am a huge Klein fan.

I've read where he claims to be a clean rider and that inhibits his chances in the Grand Tours because he doesn't use "recovery" products, so by the 3rd week he's toast. I suspect he saw no chance at doing anything in the Giro and dropped out to conserve himself for races that more suit his style. He is more of a single day rider/short stage race contender.

Exactly the same reason why I am not in the Giro;-)

I don't know Rebellin's palmares off the top of my head but I do know that he wins a lot of smaller races, which is how he gets his UCI points.
