I was going to ride a leisurly 60 miler today and, for the first time, ride the Colonial Parkway up to Williamsburg. (I am in VA)...Anyway, it's a nice flat 15 miler to the Parkway, so I was cruising along. THen I discovered the Parkway is paved with this ROUGH concrete stuff (not as bad as pave', but it wasnt a treat). Plus the Parkway had a good bit of rolling hills! So between the hills and 26 miles of that @#$% road surface I was toast when I got home. So much for a slow long day!!

Gained even more respect for those animals who do the Paris-Roubaix. That surface (whatever you call it), was an a$$-kicker! Regular asphalt felt like buttah after that!
