Nasty!!!MSA

I haven't been perusing this board for long, but one of the things I have enjoyed about it thus far is the courtesy and politeness with which everybody discusses topics...that is until today. Man, this is awful...surely we can do better.

My suggestion, for what its worth: do not post today's Giro news topics on this thread, and, if someone mistakenly does, let him/her be reminded politely that they are not to do so. Not posting Giro topics is a courtesy to other readers, not a law set in stone. People that do so most likely have done it mistakenly, not maliciously. A giro spoiler may have ruined the board for you, but flaming the author ruins it for everyone else.
Polite differences of opinion to these suggestions, only, are welcome.
this conversation grows tiresome, its time to dance :-) nmmwood

Just don't read the Giro stuff if you don't want to know. Whatever happened to taking responsibility for your own actions instead of always blaming it on someone else?

Sure it's a courtesy to post "spoiler" in the header of your Giro messages, but if you really don't want to find out about Giro results then stay off the bike sites on the Internet. no reason to make us all walk on eggshells here in fear of posting anything that might even remotely hint at the outcome of the race.
I am not asking anyone to walk on eggshells,MSA

but I am asking for people to be more civil in their discussions. calling people "idiot" or worse has no place on this board, IMHO. Frankly, I could care less about Giro spoilers, but I avoid discussing it on this site for people who do.

As one of the early migrators here from MTBR (hard to believe that we came from a Mountain Bike site), I've seen this board go through a number of what can only be described as 'funks' over the years. The most recent one began with Eugene/RadicalRon, and everybody has been in a snitty mood since. The level of personal attacks and insults, which are wholly uncalled for, is just beyond the tolerence that I, and I suspect others, have.

So, I'm just going to do what I have in the past, walk away, check back every few weeks, and when things calm down, I'll pay attention again. Because, frankly, I'd rather argue about why Moots makes a piece of trash than why RadicalRon is a piece of trash. The board is about bikes, not about the people who post here, and when we get back to that point, I will return.

With all offence intended, blow me. I am in awe of how many yutzs such as yourself seem filled with this alleged "hoiler than thou" attitude. Lighten up. Do you think this is for REAL? We are on an internet Buletin Board. Some of us play the Don Rickles role. You don't like it, go to www.sensitive-new-age-guy.com and enjoy some lovely non-confrontational, cooperative based intercourse. Otherwise, jump in the sandbox, toss in your two cents and you might just have some fun.

Co-operative based intercourse? Mmm I like the sound of that...rwbadley
