|The guy is Mike Garcia, and he has a good reputation among mountain bikers (might post on that board for experiences). I e-mailed him a month or so ago with some questions about road wheels, and he got right back to me with good ideas at a reasonable price. I had to wait a couple of weeks (taxes and car insurance), and when I wrote back, I didn't get an answer. Somebody else was asking about him either here or on the MB board a couple of weeks ago; said they hadn't had a reply, either.|

|I think Doug Sloane and a few others have used AC hubs and can't remember what the overall response was but for some reason I think it was less than positive, could be wrong though. I recall someone mentioning that the hubs were spitting grease out? Anyway in researching prices someone pointed me to oddsandendos.com. His price on a wheelset (ACs/Velocity Aeroheads, choice of lacing patt.,color, spokes) beat AC Mfg. by $140+. First I'm wondering how, second I'm wondering is this legit, third is guarantee/warranty on his work. My questions go on, especially about the product reliability. So far I emailed Garcia and AC and I called Garcia and have gotten no response.
Alot of the old sayings are creeping into my mind that say "buyer beware", like "if it's too good to be true....and you get what you pay for."
It seems that if someone is happily using a product you will hear very little about it but you almost always hear the down side stories about products. I checked the product reviews, all 3 of them and found positve reponse 2 to 1!!( see how figures lie and liars figure) The lone detractor moaned about a front hub not being smooth enough and because it was a cartridge type bearing there was no adjustment and the hubs were for yuppies who had too much money and they were only good for use on raceday and not strong enough yada yada...
I am looking to buy these to replace Rolf Vector Comps. When I buy parts, I always buy to upgrade. I fully realize that these wheels will not be in the class of say Ksyriums or Velomax, but I expect them to be better(lighter and as strong) than my Rolfs. And for me $300 to $350 is the proposed budget for a wheelset that I can have built. Not interested in DA's/Open pros, want something different that works well. LBS offered me a set of Cosmic Elites for $231, I like them but they seem heavy to me.
Thanks for any imput from the group.

|I ordered a set of Am. Classic wheels from him about 1.5 months ago and have been extremely pleased with them. From the times I have talked with him Mike is very knowledgeable and very nice. I had emailed him a couple of times asking what he recommended for me, and he gave some recommendations. Then when I called to place the order he spent about 30 minutes going over every detail about the wheels, what type of riding I would use them for, my weight, quality of the roads I ride on, etc. Let me know about any other questions you may have or leave your email address here and I will contact you.|
