|Performance just sent me a used dangerous/defective product!||woodes|

|I ordered a received a USE Alien Carbon seatpost from Performance, and paid $130...I didn't use totalcycling to save a few bucks because I needed the item ASAP (so I paid for overnight shipping)...The seatpost arrived today and I was shocked when I opened the package. I noticed some insertion marks. Not really a big deal, but if you're paying full retail for a product, you deserve a new and unused item. What really shocked me was that whoever initially purchased the seatpost torqued their clamp so much that it crushed part of the seatpost! Now the seatpost is dangerous. The sales rep was very helpful, and promised to reimburse me for my shipping costs, as well as a full refund of the post. Kudos to Performance for being totally cooperative on the return (so far) but I asked to speak to a manager, because whoever inspects returns really dropped the ball here! I have a 15 year-old Chorus seatpost that has less wear than this thing! The positive thing about this whole experience is that I will never buy a carbon fiber seatpost, I'm back to my tried-but-true Campy post!|

|FWIW: Don't automatically blame the manufacturer or the material for what may have been user error. The previous owner probably crushed it and took advantage of the return policy.
Performance dropped the ball and is doing what they can to rectify the situation. Why not just have them overnight you another post?

|you're right, it was not a manufacturer error. My concern was that (1) Performance's returns quality control was horrendous and (2) I don't know how much torque the original user used (it was probably a lot) but the damage brought out the inherent weakness in carbon - I learned a cheap lesson. It's back to my old Campy post!|

|not dangerous but certainly used. A "new" pair of Look 296 pedals, in the box with all the goods. Problem was the pedal surfaces were scratched and best of all the nut on the spindle was gauled from someone using a cone wrench to install it. It was also rusted. Looks like Performance has a problem with returns - they go back on the shelf. They kindly paid for my return postage and shipped me a new pair, even paying for Saturday delivery. However, I'd rather they'd done it right in the first place.|
