Cutting Steerer Tubes(3 posts)

Cutting Steerer Tubesdaniell

I just purchased a new stem for my bike. I now need to cut the steerer tube. When I make my measurement, should I do so with full tension? Also, how much below the top of the stem should the cut be made?

Thanks

Daniel

This should point you to the right direction.

I highly recommend the Park saw guide (pictured) for a square, precise cut.

What kind of fork do you have and who makes it? I would go to the website of the company that makes your fork and see if they have the manual available online. Additional info is available at: http://www.slowtwitch.com/mainheadings/techctr/maintenance/steerer.html
