|this is an x-post from the 'cross forum. I have followed Elefantino's lead: when injured, build up a new bike. :)
the story is this: at 28", my inseam is too short to fit me onto ANY stock 'cross bike, even a 42cm Surly Crosscheck. I am not kidding you.
there's a 46cm semi-custom Gunnar Crosshairs at the LBS. I can stand over it with maybe half an inch of clearance. the rest of the bike is fine - TT not too long and all that. the thing that worries me is the standover clearance. is that enough? am I even going to be able to dismount? the mechanic called Gunnar, and they said yes.
if not, what other options do I have? don't tell me to call Seven, now, that's a bit out of budget :)
any good, reasonably priced custom frame builders out there? I was looking to spend around 5 or 6 hundred on a light Al frameset. it looks, now, like the only way to get light is to get titanium, which is out of budget.

|why don't you check waterford? they use more bb drop..maybe the atlatis form rivendell! not a cross bike, more liek the name says an all around bike. don't know about ti since there's only steel for me as frame material.|
