had to post. had a great ride yesterday. After a few years of barely touching the bike, i recommitted 2.5 months ago and have been riding regularly.

Yesterday I guess I finally saw a really noticeable sign of improvement (i mean i could tell i was getting stronger, but...) Had a nice 40 miler, ended up averaging 18 mph. The nice part was that I felt great the whole time. Whoo Hoo.

Not TDF speed or distance I know, and many of you could probably do better (i'm a good climber though so watch out) but 2 months ago, I was doing half the distance, averaging 14-15mph and feeling like crap when I was done. It's nice to have one of those rides where you can really FEEL you've improved.
congrats...feels good huh! (nm)allezrider

Somewhere it's like a switch has been flipped - so after several weeks of dedication and no results, whammo! It's like you can see them all at once!

My switch has flipped since last weekend.

Enjoy-

I trained really hard last year and ended up doing a 900 mile ride in 8 days (not sure why we did that). Well, since then I ride maybe twice a month and have been watching my speed and endurance slip away.

Maybe there is a cosmic quota on cycling ability and if one person gets better, another has to get worse. Just to make sure Lance does well this year I'm going to eat another doughnut.
True dedication to the sport there, Homer. :) nmrideslikeagirl

during fall term, I was just starting out - hadn't really developed real bike handling skills yet, and I was sucking wheel every ride. I was doing pretty well for a beginning rider.
then I came back from winter break. after a small setback - slight strain in one quadricep due to improper position - my switch got flipped. amazing, all I did over winter break was eat :P

whammo, you have a LOUSY day in the middle of good training.

I'll give you a report on Monday as to how the Davis Double goes this time. I've trained a moderate amount and plan to apply pacing techniques learned over a lifetime of riding.
Absolutely. Good luck! nmrideslikeagirl

Congradulations..!!! Thats what I'm talking about.. it's not what you ride, your avg mph or gut wrenching distances. Its that you ride! I'll ride with ya anytime...and I looooove hills.

Keep it up..!
