|I posted yesterday about finding a cheap bike. I have come up empty searching the classifieds and I'm not patient enough to wait for a deal. So of the following five bikes, will you rank them in order of quality and value. Yes they are cheap bikes, but who knows if I'll even enjoy riding?
KHS Flite 300
Thanks for your help!

|I know from your previous post that you are pretty firm on 500.00 or less. If you can just make a small jump to the 600.00 range you could possibly get KHS flite 500 its steel with a carbon fork. The ride would be better and you may get greater enjoyment out of the bike.|

|I'll check into the KHS 500. Anybody else have suggestions or rankings. I'd like to have an idea of how these bikes compare before I test ride.|

|For the most part the equipment on these bikes are going to be very similar since there isn't much to choose from at lower price points.
The only thing I wouldn't like on these bikes is the Sora shifters they are bound to come with. I would at least look at upgrading to Tiagra shifters.
With that out of the way my wife has a Trek 1000 and for the most part it's a nice bike (aside from the shifters). It's not too heavy for the price. I would say it would make a good first bike.
With that aside, I would recomend that you try riding the bikes to see which one feels the best to you. The biggest difference at this price point will be the geometry of the bike. The bike could be set up with very relaxed touring geometry or somewhat racy geometry. Buy the one that feels the most comfortable.
They should all have a descent build quality and have good warranty repair should something happen.
My personal favorite would be the Giant OCR if you can replace the shifters and the stem (very heavy stem). I like the droped top tube of the Giant.
Anyway I hope this helps a little.
