|Is the giro ever going to make it to Italy? How many countries does the "Tour of Italy" have to go through. It just doesnt seem right that the whole first week goes through 6 different countries... What are they doing in the Netherlands of all places?|

|They'll be there Friday(?). They're trying to celebrate the European Union and the Euro (I think that's correct and I'm sure someone will clarify further?). I think the 6 countries were the original members.
The TDF does the same thing, every year. Stages go in/out of France. It's not starting IN France either, this year.
From what they said on TV, when the Giro asked for cities to go through they had to turn many down. It's publicity for the country/teams and brings in more money for everyone. It also took 6 years to plan this.
Anywho, long story, short it's trying to celebrate the EU.
Hope I helped somewhat.

That is pretty much what I figured...
My post was mostly rhetorical; a feeble attempt to get some discussion going...

I have to be careful, or I'm going to start speaking with a British accent! They call the end of the race like a Kentucky Derby finish... it's great!
