I've got a set, 2002, for Campy R10. I've ridden a lot of different wheels in the past 30 years and these are up there with the best in terms of weight and how responsive they are to ride. I've ridden only tubs until the last two years and these are clinchers. They're stiff yet comfortable and so far, a little under 1,000 miles, they've been quite durable. In my current location, I also have a pair of Ksyrium's (not SL's)and hand builts using both Open CD's and Ambrosio Excellights with only the latter coming close. You can also get the Neutrons with a Shimano (made by Campy) freehub. If I didn't have the Ksyrium's for my DA setup, I'd get the Neutrons for use with Shimano drivetrain.

I like them a lot.

2002 Neutrons = 2001 Nucleonsmmaggi

The difference between the 2 are the stickers on the rims. Otherwise they're exactly the same.

I ride the 2001 Nucleons. Great wheelset. Light, stiff and durable enough. If you're less than 200lbs, you shouldn't have any problems although the LBS claim they're bomb proof and there are no weight limits for this wheelset. I'm not so sure about that. Bear in mind we're talking about 22 spokes in the front and 24 in the rear.

My only suggestion is that you purchase in advance the mini-spoke set from Brandfordbikes.com. If you pop a spoke your LBS may not have the bladed spokes to replace. Avoid waiting for the spoke and purchase it yourself that way you're prepared just in case.

I weigh 190lbs and have over 2200 miles on them. I popped one spoke on the rear at 1100 miles. I have no regrets.

According to the Campy website, they've gone to aero spokes in the rear on the drive side and black colored spokes. Admitedly not great changes and ones which are mainly cosmetic but a litle more than just stickers. It does make NOS Nucleon's a sale a good value compared to the Neutron.
