Sweet justice:

a bank robber from Chicago
a domestique terrorist from Wisconsin
a troll from Schaumburg

So, what's the connection you guys from the midwest?

Every dog has his day! We just don't want anyone to forget about us.

By the way... we try to keep the trolls in the suburbs. They are not allowed into the city of Chicago. No offense to the rest of you good guys and gals from the 'burbs!

Yeah! When I'm walking through Boystown on my way to Wrigleyville and I see men in creative latex and feather boas walking towards the local watering hole.. aka the "Manhole"; and when I get chased off the No. 80 bus by an old witch screaming HOW WILL JESUS SAVE YOU IF YOU DON'T TRUST AN OLD LADY... and when the "Streetwise" vendors chase me half a block when I'm on my in-lines.... I'm pretty thankful that we keep all the wierdos in the suburbs.

I miss Maine!

You hit the nail on the head, 128. The mid-west is so boring, we have to find creative ways to entertain ourselves. Some just take it further than others. You remember Bevis and Butthead? Those guys had to be from around here!

In Minnesota we elected a wrestler as our Governor. What does that tell you? Add in Wellstone and Dayton as our Senators and you can see where I'm going...

The midwest climate can be nasty. Where I grew up in Des Moines, it would routinely get to 100 degrees with high humidity in the summer and down to 30 below in the winter. Before efficient climate control, the riff raff couldn't take it and they all shipped out to California. It was a perfect system because it raised the average IQ of both areas.

My forebears move to southern California from Iowa (Fort Dodge) just after WWII. Are you callin' my grandma and grandpa riff-raff? ;-)

but I'm sure that they improved California.

In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, they used to joke, "There are more Iowans in California than in Iowa." All my friends from there moved to California, none went East. It had alot to do with the Siberian winters on those endless plains.

My grandparents moved from Iowa to Long Beach, CA, which became known as Iowa by the Sea after the war. Through the 70s, Long Beach parks were regularly filled with large groups of former Iowans having reunions. When I was a kid, we had dozens of relatives in Iowa. As far as I know, not a single one is still there.
