Help me identify a part that came with my Dura Ace STIsjay3000

I bought a brand new (boxed) set of DA STI shifters.. In the little bag that contained the gear position indicator, and the deraileur cables, was a little piece of metal about an inch long, that was just large enough for the deraileur cable to slip through, and it appears to be designed to be crimped onto the cable somewhere.. It not an end cap..Any idea what this is, or where it goes????

Is it one of those barrel adjusters ment to go on the cable next to the brake housing for easy adjustment?
just a guess, what does it look like?

It's called a return spring installation tool and it's designed to help in reassembly of the shifter during maintenance. The picture below shows what I think you are referencing. The cable fitting through it is pure coincidence. Put it in your toolbox and go ride.
